The purposes for which personal information is collected maybe identified before or at the time the information is collected.

Principle 3 – Consent

You the user consent to CanMedi to its collection, and use of personal information.
hen you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.
If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

Principle 4 – Collection

The third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

Once you leave our store’s website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

Personal information may only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected unless you have otherwise consented, or when it is required or permitted by law. Personal information may only be retained for the period of time required to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law.

Principle 6 – Accuracy

Personal information must be maintained in as accurate, complete and up-to-date form as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it is to be used. You the user are responsible in providing true and accurate information.

Principle 7 – Safeguarding Customer Information

You understand that your content (not including credit card information), may be transferred unencrypted and involve (a) transmissions over various networks; and (b) changes to conform and adapt to technical requirements of connecting networks or devices. Credit card information is always encrypted during transfer over networks. To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed. If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

Principle 8 – Openness

We may disclose your personal information in following circumstances:

  • If we are required by law enforcement
  • If required by regulatory authorities such as Health Canada for the purposes of MMPR
    to your health practitioner for the purposes of treatment and/or continuity of care
    to approved third-party services/vendors for the purposes of performing a specific required actions.
  • If you violate our Terms of Service.
  • Periodically we may make use of non-identifying information (aggregate data) for statistical or research purposes. This information does not identify you or provide and personal information.

Principle 9 – Customer Access

Upon request, a customer shall be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their personal information, and shall be given access to it. Customers may verify the accuracy and completeness of their personal information, and may request that it be amended, if appropriate.

What information do we collect?

How do we collect this information, and how is it used?
We collect personal information such as but not limited to names, addresses, e-mail addresses, electronic markers and some demographic information when submitted by you through our customer registration process, surveys and/or other information gathering processes.

Your e-mail address is used only to send you information you’ve requested (such as electronic newsletters), to administer surveys, and/or to respond to communications from you. Demographic information is only used in summary form to assist us in identifying our audiences and their interests, or to help us develop conclusions about survey results. We do not use this information for other purposes.

We also use “cookies,” or small pieces of information that we store on users’ computers (see definition below), to recognize returning visitors and monitor traffic through our site.
